The North River Rotary Club handed out a free dictionary or thesaurus to students at Rivermont elementary.
About 300 books were given to third and fifth graders as part of the clubs literacy project. The North River Rotary has given away the books for the last four years. Unlike other school books, students get to keep the dictionary or thesaurus for themselves.
David Townsend, "They know who the North River Rotary is because we've pretty much adopted the school in addition to the literacy initiative, one of the first questions I ask is how many of you received dictionaries when you were in the third grade."
The North River Rotary Club also helped the school build a new playground.
