Central Valley Baptist Church Members Still Waiting To Be Heard By Haitian Government
Comments Below: 35
There are currently 10 americans detained in Haiti, accused of attempting to take orphans without permission.
The Prime Minister of Haiti said that these Americans knew what they were doing, and in fact some of the kids actually had parents.
However, these ten members of a US church, Central Valley Baptist Church, are still waiting in Haiti to be heard by the Haitian government.
SOME OF THE AMERICANS BEING HELD BELONG TO THE CENTRAL VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH IN MERIDIAN, IDAHO.

Or are you one of those that believe in the wonderful fairy tale of "DEVINE CREATION"? If so, and if this GOD really did create us in his own image, he really missed the boat with you. Your racism and immaturity are appaling at the least.

Free the Americans
Where do we get off judging the motives of people who gave up their comfortable lifestyles to go over to a devastated country to do what they could to help?! If an American citizen ends up in a foreign country in jail or prison I would hope the reaction from every other American citizen would be one of compassion. I haven't seen much - if any - compassion extended towards these 10 Americans. We have judged them and turned our backs on them, and basically, washed our hands of them. That is to our shame. They are fathers, mothers, daughters, sons - simply there to be of help - out of hearts of compassion. They have been declared innocent by their Haitian judge, and by our State Department - so why do WE continue to basically say "crucify them?" Not one of us has any idea what it would be like to be in a jail in the worst conditions imaginable in the poorest country in the world. This is an appalling situation. I am confounded by the hatred directed towards them. May God have mercy on us all.
They didn't try to help
They didn't try to help anyone! They tried to kidnap children and force them into their crazy jesus cult.
Mind Reader?
How would YOU know if any of us has ever been in a jail or prison, either domestic or foreign? I have been in both. I have been jailed in the U.S. and in the Philippines. Let me tell you, it's NO party on either side. But to get to these folks, they commited an act that was in violation of Haitian law as well as the laws of the U.S. Ms. Silsby is NO angel. She is broke and destitute. She is merely looking for a way to exploit these children for profit. She scammed these kids, parents and potential investors by her greedy actions. Now she must pay the price. It's really rather simple. She was/is an ILLEGAL ALIEN in that country who broke the law. Seems rather funny to me that all these Americans who decry the ILLEGAL ALIEN in this country would make a stand for her. Double standard if you ask me. I say she needs to learn a lesson. we just can't go into a foreign country and believe we can do as we wish because we are "AMERICANS". Ask Amanda Knox! I have NO compassion for her or her kind. You just can't go around envoking the name of God or Jesus and believe that you are above the law. I feel for them kids who almost got swept up in her scam.......P.S. Jailed in the U.S. for DUI and jailed in the P.I. back in 1970 for being out after midnight.
Then you do understand.
Then you do understand. Since that is the case - why are you so angry at them? Everything we have heard is from the media, we haven't heard from them personally. A judge is set to free some of the them today. Even our own State Department has ruled they are innocent of committing a crime. Do you think it is possible for bad things to happen, beyond our control - even when we think we are in compliance with the law? I certainly do, especially in a country where chaos rules. In terms of the children - the parents and the pastor of the church where most of them were from - were given to the missionaries to be cared for in a way they wouldn't be otherwise. My heart goes out to those children who are true victims of sexual predators. I am sorry for your incarceration - at home and abroad. I'm sure that was a very terrible time for you. I will admit to having a hard heart over the years to those in prison - but no more. Everyone is a person and everyone deserves to be loved and cared for no matter what they have done.
Silsby
Look up this woman and read about her errant ways then tell us how compassionate she is.
Let them rot
Laura Silsby and crew had attempted to cross the DR border before the arrest with 40 other kids. They were turned back. Got that from CNN
Laura Silsby and crew also went to devasted orphanages and tried to get children handed over to them. The Central Valley Baptist Churches original goal was to get 100 kids across the border. When the orphanages declined Silsby she cried then paid money to have someone translate for her while she rounded kids up that were straglers.
Some Haitian parents offered their children after Silsby and crew showed them flyers of the luxury resort that was the supposed orphanage in DR. However the orphanage hadn't been built yet, and Silsby was going to house the kids in a hotel for $7000/month till she found investors to pay for the orphanage. She had nowhere to put the kids except in a hotel.
The kids were told by Silsby and crew that they were going on a holiday out of the country to get away from all the devestation.
The 10 do-gooders for Christ have been visited everyday by U.S. officials to make sure they are being taken care of. They are even allowed to call home and talk to family. They are not in luxurious accomadations. They are in jail and while not plesant, they have actually enjoyed a better standard of living than the folks retained in U.S. ran jails.
The Haitian judge isn't the problem. It's the defense lawyer for Silsby and company. Their first lawyer tried to bribe the judge. That didn't work. Their current lawyer is wanted by another country because he is suspected of child trafficking...not by Haiti. The Haitian judge over Silsby and crew's case is looking into the matter. The judge has recommended that Silsby and crew go free, but it is in the prosecuters hands to drop charges.
If these Silsby and her Bible thumping crew go free, it will be because the officials of Haiti are more concerned about their own people and not willing to risk the much needed aid being sent by the U.S.
Stop all the money
Stop all the money that is flowing into Haiti from the USA and see how fast they put them 10 on an airplane back to the USA. They will get a brand new aspect on how guilty those 10 are.
It is all political BS any way.
We have no justice systems they are all legal systems that are run by money.
The laws are written to protect the wealthy.
Prosecute to fullest extent of law
Sympathizers,
If Muslim radicals had infiltrated New Orleans in the wake of hurricane Katrina and begun spiriting children away for training in the ideology of Islamic fundamentalism, would you have likewise defended their actions?
Oh, yeah, but these are Christians so it's okay 'cause their God is the true God and they were just trying to rescue these poor souls from the aftermath of the quake and the scary rites of voodooism which had inspired God's wrath.
Yep, that's what this is about for these self-righteous hypocrites, who flagrantly and knowingly break not only the laws of the United States and Haiti, but any standard of human decency. Now, these scoundrels will exploit the publicity(as I speculate may have been the plan all along) to portray themselves as victims of religious discrimination and martyrs for their faith.
It's a cause for concern when superstition inspires people to anti-social behavior like stealing people's children when they are most vulnerable for initiation into a cult far away from home and family. This plot was despicable and its perpetrators hatched it with full knowledge of the potential consequences. They deserve, therefore, no lenience but the maximum penalty under the law.
I wonder what the bible prescribes for kidnapping...
AGREED
I agree with this analogy.
Forgiveness
Don't you know? The Bible Thumpers have a CRUTCH! Do anything you want, ask Jebus for forgiveness, and "POOF", all is forgiven!
Comment
All things said, there is the rule of law, even in a country that is devastated by an earthquake. If these children (some of them) had parents or relatives that are still alive, and these missionaries took them...then shame on them. It was a wrong thing to do at this juncture. Not to mention, that they must apply to the Haitian government with proper documentation to even think about taking custody of these kids.
KIDNAPPING IS KIDNAPPING
You folks just don't get it. You are the ultimate ugly American Baptists. YOur people are flat out guilty of kidnapping. If 10 Haitians had come to your community and tried to illegally take 10 children out of the United States you would be screaming. You people did the same thing in your arrogance. Pay the price and face jail.
Petition to Release Missionaries Held Hostage in Haiti
The 10 missionaries in Haiti are being held hostage by a corrupt judge, probably to extort America. America needs to respond more strongly. I have started a petition on my blog demanding our government take more affirmative action to secure their release. Please sign it and tell your friends.

Haiti
Have you ever been to Haiti and dealt with the government? Have you ever been to Haiti period. I can tell by your post you have not so therefore if you are not educated about Haiti then I think you should not post your opinion because it is not an educated one at all. We are not to judge these missionaries and they are Americans no matter what their religion, race, etc. We have went on medical trips to Haiti and had to buy back the medications from the Haitians that we actually took over ourselves to help them! They kept the good medications and only would let us buy back the Tylenol this was after an entire day in every government place in Haiti. They do not move very fast in any legal matter at all when their has been no earthquake. It is a disaster when there has not been an earthquake now it is indescribable and no human being needs to be in Haiti right now period. American needs to take care of their own!
Missionaries
Well then, by YOUR account, these CHILD THIEVES should be HERE in the U.S. taking care of AMERICAN kids. But the difference is, they can't profit from it. And if America needs to take care of it's own, what the hell did YOU go to Haiti for? You are a HYPOCRITE. I hope they jail ALL 10 of them idiots for years.
Silsby's misjudgment
Some poor countries abound with con artists--and their residents are very familiar with their tactics, including feigned ignorance and innocence. Silsby may have been slick enough for her congregation--joined as her financial troubles increased--but Haiti is a country that conned the few whites who survived the massacre (described as their revolution) into coming out of hiding on a promise of security, only to be shot to death. Not what you'd call naive....
I don't know the motives of the other nine, but if these people had cared about the children of Haiti more than their own selfish agenda, they would have donated the cost of this trip to established Haitian Baptist missions to help during the disaster. Now they want money donated to help THEM and seem to enjoy the attention that should be going to the earthquake victims.
The posts supporting their prosecution are not hate-filled, they are supportive of Haiti's rights to protect their children, even during extreme circumstances. Thank God that Haiti protected the parents from the loss of their children. They would never have had the money to go retrieve them from the US.
Compassion?
Facts which would contradict 'compassion' as Silsby's motive in taking these children:
Silsby's stated project in DR included 'seaside villas' for prospective adoptive parents to stay in in the several months required to accomplish adoption. Compassion would dictate putting funds into food and medical care for as many children as could be helped, or am I stupid? Sounds like catering to the needs of the rich, and making money on it.
While extremely poor, these children at least had parents trying to care for them--as opposed to hundreds of thousands of actual orphans in more severe need--but perhaps less educated and socialized and able to command high fees.
Natural Selection
This is Darwin's way of weeding out the religious nuts who think that it's God's will. Let this be a lesson to all of you who do stupid things in the name of the Lord! Mind your own business, keep your religious beliefs inside your church and leave the rest of the world to what is really the true way of life. "Evolution!"
Haiti children
The actions of these central Valley Baptists goes beyond moronic. Spiriting children out of the country when some of those kids clearly stated they have parents? And there is no record of the kids or visa to leave the country?
Let's keep the "compassion" defense out of this. The conduct of these idiots is beyond stupid. Maybe a few years in jail will smarten them up.
Haiti Children
I just finished reading a couple stories about this matter. This was not child abduction, this was child compassion. What is rewarded is repeated. Their leader probably did not go about it the right way, but in the kaos of that situation they wanted to help some children. They had the permission of the parents after all.
Haiti Children
Help the children by taking them away from their parents? A parent cannot sell or give away their children like a piece of property. Silsby should be charged with attempted trafficing and sales of these children. The other 9 should be held responsible for their actions as well. If this woman was so concerned about children why didn't she keep her own. I have nothing against the baptist church, but the more they try to defend this woman the less credible they appear to be. Silsby seems more like an oportunist than a christian trying to do the right thing. I guess like most people with extreme religious beliefs you can justify anything in the name of God.
Give me a break!!
Empty promises given to poor, impoverished parents don't fly...I spent 15 months in Haiti working and if any white(read money) person makes the kind of promises that were made by this group, in a time of devastation and desperation, they would be inundated with parents willingly giving up their children. Yes, the children would have been better off at a villa in the DR. But was it right? Those parents would never have the means to ever see their kids again or the resources to track them down if they ever made it to Miami, Boston or New York.
BS
Thats a bunch of BS and YOU know it. Some of these kids were screaming that they knew their parents were alive. Why were these kids dehydrated, starving, shoeless, MARCHED through the jungles and FILTHY? Christian compassion my ass. These people are from IDAHO. Home of the largest sect of the ARYAN NATIONS. Get real, they wanted to enslave these kids. Why weren't they attempting to take kids from Kosovo? Cuz you don't enslave WHITE folks. "SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN UNTO THE LORD"? The word "SUFFER" is not meant litterally! This WAS a child abduction, and them bible (FAKE) thumpers need to pay for their stupidity.
BS
Please don't group everyone from Idaho with the nuts who went over to Haiti. I hope all ten are brought to justice in Haiti and the church should be responsible for paying their room and board for the next 20 years. What they did is disgusting and they should be charged and prosecuted if found guilty.
PROSECUTE
Where the hell do these people get off? This was/is a blatant attempt at child abduction. They KNOW damned well what the laws are. It has been reported that some of these children were screaming for their parents, as they knew that they were alive. They didn't even treat these kids as human beings. Some were dehydrated, hungry, filthy, no shoes. Ah yes, real "CHRISTIANLIKE". Prosecute these people for trafficing with intent to enslave minors. May they rot in a jail in Haiti. What arrogance!!! These people are no better than Warren Jeffs.
Not guilty
These kids were already suffering. The government of Haiti just wants to make sure they get money for these kids before they send them out. These country has no intention to follow the laws when it comes to them. But WOE! to those who want to help.
Jail birds, your assistance
Jail birds, your assistance and compasion to those in desperate need is legendary! If the world were just like you, sane people would move to Haiti since it would be I'm sure that paradise!
Jail birds
Keep the child thieves in jail, damn the bible thumpers.
Guess there is amber alert there, thank god
Sure let those kids die in
Sure let those kids die in Haiti in worst conditions and in the presence of their parents. Maybe the parents will die first. If you care so much why don't you go there and do something about it?

Remove them all.
Blow what is left of it off the map.And then hit africa. We have tried to help them all for years. With trying to show them how to raise food get clean water for themselves. And all they do is lay around and have more kids to die.I seen a woman in africa with a baby laying beside her.All swelled up from lack of food. But on each one of her breast she was breast feeding baby pigs. While her child is laying there dieing from not having milk.Damn good country to raise a child right. They are not worth the time it takes to make the bomb that would wipe them out. They are nasty lazy and cruel to children. Americans need to come home and let all these lazy ass unamericans fend for themselves or die. They do not want to be helped or to learn anything. All they want is a free ride to get what they want and need.If the lazy S O B can not get up and put a plant in the ground for him and his family to eat.Let them starve.
