Disco is alive and well in the scenic city as a new radio station hit the air waves Monday afternoon.
Boogie 103.7 is Clear Channel's newest station in Chattanooga.
It also operates US-101, Rock 105 and 98.1, the Legend.
Vice President Mark Bass says this station was carefully researched and designed to get people up and moving.
He expects it's unique format to hit the air in 100 other Clear Channel markets in 6 months.
Bass says,"I'm telling you it's a health trend that's going on right now. These radio stations are motivating, they'll get you up off your bootie. Frankly, Chattanooga needs to shake that thing."
He says the station will continue to evolve for the next few months.

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A MOTIVATING STATION... EVER SINCE THEY TOOK OUT THE 80'S STATION. NOW IF THEY WILL NOT PUT SOME GOOFYTALK SHOW ON ON THE MORNINGS, I WILL BE CHANGING MY WAKE UP STATION SOON. BUT WORD TO THE WISE, A BUNCH OF GOOF BALLS GIGGLING FIRST THING IN THE MORNINGS DOES NOT HELP MY DAY, NOR GET ME UP... WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE FOR THE RIDE HOME, OR LATER IN THE DAY.... MUSIC IS THE BEST MOTIVATOR.

Like Obama says, We need REAL change

Retro is the way to go.....nothing new is very exciting. Radio, n itself, is pretty boring. Same formulas everywhere, no matter what the music...so, hey, boogie-man, don't play the same freakin tunes over and over because the IPOD is still my most reliable source of entertainment.
Being LOCAL is also important too and CONTENT that is relatable and intelligent. Enough goofy John Boy and Billy and talk stations stacked with right wing radicals..silly girl-boy formula shows and announcers who can only say what the management tells them to say!!
I agree with the guy who talked about giggling morons in the morning and it would be nice to have LOCAL, not piped in shows, with someone on the air who is fun and has a vocabulary bigger than a matchbox.
But every time these people (radio owners) get something good going, it's either just a tease or the experts change their minds and change their stations.
Recall last year when WUUS signed on with classic hits. First it was the "70s and 60s" (what, dislexic or something?)..then two months later, it was the "60s, 70s and 80s." but it was only barely any of them.
They still play the same damn songs over and over and often, at the same times every day.
When they let Cleveland Wheeler, the morning guy they hired to walk on them because (best info has it) over disagreements over the station being programmed by some guy from San Antonio and refusing to play more than 400 songs to represent three decades, I turned the radio OFF and started downloading my own collection.
He talked a little but about smart, interesting stuff and, in my opinion, was too good for what Chattanooga radio offers.
So wise up guys and don't operate this one like a radio school run by chucklehads or a music machine with 10 songs.. Give us a reason to listen because we don't have to anymore if there is nothing different or genuine in it for us.

Change we can believe in with experience too!
Submitted by Guest (not verified) on June 25, 2008 - 10:08pm.
Clear Channel has the experience to bring the change that people want. Alot like Hillary could have brought and McCain is going to bring. There is a knob that can change the station if people don't change. Did you know it takes a radio format 18 months to study and after 4 years of poor rating to change if it isn't working...The same time time for a presidential election...
RE: Like Obama says, We need REAL change
WDEF, I hope you will be fair and keep this post since you let an off topic subject line be turned into a one sentence political statement.
OOPS. going retro is not change, it is a step back. Not exactly the "change" message for the Obama camp. Change= going Retro.
Looking at the Big O I don't see a change. I see a calculating politico offering more of the same tactics without the ability.

103.7 Rick and Bubba
I have been listening to Rick and Bubba for years on 101.7 out of Scottsboro,Al and have been begging them to get on a station in Chattanooga. Give it a listen, Rick and Bubba are awesome. I would not be interested in listening to Disco, and I do not enjoy the morning show offered on US101, so I have been listening to John Boy and Billy on KZ, because I can't pick up 101.7 once I leave home, now I listen to 103.7 every single morning, and even on my ride home in the evening. Thanks and keep Rick and Bubba on Please!
