Blue Cross Hard Drive Theft Investigation Continues
Comments Below: 1
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee offers free credit monitoring to customers whose personal information may be at risk of falling into the wrong hands, following a theft last month.
Someone took 68 computer hard drives from the Eastgate offices of Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Company officials say the equipment contained voice recordings of eligibility and coordination-of-benefit calls.
Officials say getting any information from the hard drives would require special expertise and software.
Blue Cross continues to sort through thousands of hours of recordings to determine who might be at risk and will contact those impacted by mail.
Authorities have yet to find the thief.
