Bingeing and Driving

It's a scary thought but chances are cars you've been on the road with had binge drinkers behind the wheel... sometimes drivers who've had 10 or more drinks.

A federal study finds one in 10 people who drank 5 or more drinks drove during or just afterward. About half had been bingeing at a bar, club or restaurant before climbing behind the wheel. All of them had at least 5 drinks, and a quarter had 10 or more. And it's not just teens and college students doing it. Scientists found bingeing and driving was common among all age groups and actually slightly more common among adults 55 and older.

They remind bingers to designate a driver to keep themselves and everyone else on the road safe and healthy.
