Athletes Compete At Special Olympics
Hundreds of athletes competed in Saturday's Special Olympics held at McCallie school.
About 242 athletes took part in the 2008 competition, the primary event of the year for the Hamilton County special olympics organization.
It's become a tradition at the school as students help the hundreds of young athletes from all over the tri-state area who come to compete at the football field.
Special Olympics currently serves more than 2 million people who have intellectual disabilities, with more than 200 Programs in 160 countries.
Judy Rogers, "It's a great day for them it helps so much with their self esteem. For them it's showing their accomplishments, what they can do, let's emphasize what they can do not what they can't do."
Judy Rogers says without the help of volunteers, the Special Olympics would not be a success year after year.
