The City of Athens gets 4 Million dollars in Stimulus Money for its waste water rehab & construction project.

The city will use the funds to start laying roughly 9 miles of pipe for its waste water treatment system.

The three phase project includes rehab of old collections systems, laying new pipe toward I-75, and running waste water pipes and hook-ups at the nearby industrial park.

Athens Utilites Board Assistant General Manager Wayne Scarbrough says, "We have all utilities in place out there now accept for waste water. When a industry is trying to find a facility its very important to say you have all the utilities in place."

Construction begins this February.

Phase 1 should be complete by the end of next year.
