Former McCallie golfer Adam Mitchell is teeing off in the Chattanooga Classic on Thursday.
Mitchell enjoyed an outstanding college career at Georgia. This summmer he finished tied for third at the Tennessee State Amateur at the Honors Course, and he also qualified for the prestigious Walker Cup team. But the Nationwide event at Black Creek will mark Mitchell's first tournament as a professional, and Mitchell says it's hard not to think about the prize money.
"It'll be in the back of my head, when a check comes in the mail.
That'll be different. You're playing and like, Oh my God. They gave me this to do that.
Oh. That'll be cool. It's an experience. I'm looking forward to it."
Mitchell tees off at 9:40 am on Thursday along with some other local residents. Baylor's Luke List and Dalton's Matt Hughes will be in the same group as Mitchell.
