How did Drew Carey do as host of "The Price Is Right?"

Obviously the network has not read any reviews (or watched the show for that matter!!) because they would be scrambling to replace Drew Scarey immediatley. I dont really watch the show much anymore but always remember it growning up when I stayed home sick from school, it was always one of my favorites to watch.
However when I watched an episode recently with this guy, I almost threw up from complete amazement and total shock that they let this boring, personality lacking guy go on ruining the show completely as he does. It seems like he's just thinking about anything but the show. You know "oh where am I going to go eat for lunch" "did i pick up the dry cleaning" and "oh did i leave any shred of personality i had on the set of my last epsiode of my other boring show The Drew Carey Show".
If any network exec's are reading these REPLACE DREW SCAREY IMMEDIATLEY AND SAVE ANY FUN,DIGNITY AND CLASS AND oh DID I SAY FUN!!!!THE SHOW USED TO HAVE before you lose all your old school (and new school) audiance. Oh and whats up with that new announcer's voice "a brand new caaaaarr" could he be any more winey!??

Carey has no vocabulary and he repeat each sentences and participants names.

I watched a show of the Price is right with Drew this week, and what is his problem of him when I see this BIG BABY take the articles and destory it in one of this game ?

I have a personnal message for Mister Carey : If you don't like this show : please, YOU JUST LEAVE IT.

Not a another year with Drew ' I love the camera ' Carey. I don't understand why this big ego is not fired.

He kill this legendary gameshow with stupidy and vulgarity.

Drew Carey comes across as being really lazy. He can't
even stand up without leaning on one of the games or
putting his foot on something when a contestant is playing
a game. Can't stand looking at his big, fat ugly face
with those horrible black glasses. Heh Drew, I got an
idea.......maybe if you lost about 100 lbs. you just may
have enough energy to host the game the way it should
be hosted and maybe, big, big, maybe, you might have
more energy to put into hosting so the viewers might
actually like watching. Then again, probably not.....
you still would be a completely boring, untalented,
speech deprived, lame, unattractive has-been.

I think someone said " Lets get Carrey to do it" and they went and got the wrong one. Jim Carrey could breath some life back into it I bet.

I have stopped watching the Price is Right since Bob left. Drew Carrey sucks. I hate him. He thinks he is so funny. Well hes not. He made the show go from a 10/10 with bob barker to a 0/10 with mr fat carey.

well, i watched the price is right when drew host and i got to say that it does not have the same feeling as when bob barker host. bob is much more charismatic and makes the show really fun to watch. sadly, i do not watch the show now

After 2 years of this garbage they call a game show, I am almost ready to pull the plug on TPIR for good. Unless they bring in some actual "talent" (quickly), this show will not make it through Season 38.
I only had about a 2 month window of opportunity to go to the show when Bob was still hosting. Because of Drew I wish I was born a year or 2 sooner. Also, whatever happened to contestants who actually knew how to play every game on the show? (every contestant I see these days is a complete airhead!!) I think I'm one of a rapidly dying breed.
Except for the addition of Gas Money, every change made to Price since Barker retired has blown up in CBS's face. Price was always a winning recipe, so why did they have to toy around with something that had been a hit for 35 years? Good luck with trying to retain whatever viewers you have remaining; you're gonna need it!

Is it just me or does it sound like he says, "Dollas" instead of Dollars? If that not bad enough he also says "Bucks". NOT PROFESSIONAL.
One episode all contestants seriously under-bid. He said that should tell the sponsors "WHAT PEOPLE THINK THE PRODUCT IS WORTH" The sponsors advertising pays for Drew's undeserved salary, he actually degraded the product, wonder if he was spoken to about that! I'm sure the sponsors must of had their advertising $ refunded.
He must stop walking straight up to the camera and sticking his face into it, the lenses and my stomach are only so strong. The askig people if they want to say Hi to anyone, EVER SLACK, he cant think of anything else to say because he is not a game how host in any form.

DREW IS BAD

John O'Hurley should replace Drew Carey. He's just not a good host for this sort of thing.

As far as Drew is concerned, i have seen toilet bowls with more personality............. He is downright dull and constantly repeats the same thing over and over again.

I like Drew Cary. He was great on Who's Line Is It Anyway. To me, replacing Bob Barker for him is like replacing petroleum for ethanol: a better alternative. Embrace change, folks!

I don't like Drew Carey as the host of TPIR. He talks too fast and isn't warm and friendly with the contestants like Bob Barker was. He doesn't have good people skills. He's just doing it just to do it. There's no real interest or passion on his part.

How the hell did Drew Carey's unprofessional ass replace a legend like Bob Barker? He makes the show almost unbearable to watch as he is completely socailly ackward and uneasy around the contestants. He looks more uncomfortable than the majority if the guests and gives the show a feeling of his low class, scared personality. I recomend a host with character and maybe some charisma to relace his obnoxious, unintelligent, socially frightened prsonality. Vince Vaughn would be my ideal replacement as he would bring life back to the show where drew carey has ruined it.

I was off today and finally watched Drew. Just horrible. I feel bad for the guy. I liked him, but he is the worst game show host I have ever watched. It was painful.

Drew Carey is the WORST host on t.v. He is however good at being really really bad at trying to look comfortable hosting TPIR. He talks so fast and with such monotone. I quit trying to hear what he is trying to say which is usually something not funny and yet he is his own biggest fan. He constantly fumbles with his coat pocket not really sure where he should put his hand. And he usually starts each sentence with the word "Ah". All in all it just goes to show that without written scripts to read, a lot of actors are really untalented, humorless people that are paid waaaaaaaaay to much.

DREW CAREY IS THE MOST BORING, IRRITATING, NON-FUNNY SO CALLED GAME SHOW HOST EVER ON T.V. HE CONSTANTLY STARTS EACH SENTENCE WITH THE WORD "AH" AND WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE INFORM HIM WHAT HE SHOULD DO WITH HIS HAND. HE LOOKS SO UNCOMFORTABLE HE IS CONSTANTLY FUMBLING WITH HIS COAT POCKET PUTTING HIS HAND IN THE POCKET AND THEN AGAIN TAKING IT OUT. ALSO, HE SOUNDS LIKE HE IS "SINGING" HIS WORDS (AS IF ANYONE CAN EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT HE IS SAYING--HE TALKS SO FAST AND WITH SUCH MONOTONE.) HE IS OBVIOUSLY NOT COMFORTABLE WITH BEING ON STAGE. A LOT OF ACTORS ARE NOT FUNNY UNLESS THEY ARE READING A PRE-WRITTEN SCRIPT. DREW WOULD BE ONE OF THESE PEOPLE. DREW--IT IS TIME TO GO BACK TO WHEREVER IT IS THAT YOU CAME FROM BEFORE TPIR MADE THIS BAD DECISION TO HAVE YOU AS HOST. THE PRICE IS DEFINITELY WRONG........

I don't know who selected this TOTAL dweeb for the show(should also be fired!!!), i mean at least select someone who at least 'tries'...I was just watching the 'Clock' game...And this idiot actually made the contestant lose! They should have at least added some more seconds that he cost her (by saying higher then saying 'oops! sorry lower...'. Should get the prize because of this..Bob would giuve it...This idiot not only makes mistakes but has the contestants pay for it also...DREW IS NOT MEANT FOR THIS SHOW. He is dull, boring, inept, and simply STUPID. I have been watching the show since i was a lil kid (born in 71)...And never was Sooooo disgusted in my life, and stopped watching the show since Bob left...PLzzzzz bring Bob back from time-to-time, or at least FIRE DREW and have him replaced by someone who is at least 'awake' and somewhat interested...Previous comment says it all -- "Drew Carey is Worst than Worst"...I don't know how 'worst' can get but if there is a bottom, Mr Drew just filled it!! I like Drew as host, he's having a good time doing the show, and he's trying not to duplicate Bob. But if Drew were to leave the show, my pick would be Wink Martindale. Wink deserves at least one more show under his belt.

He is perhaps the single worst TV Show host I have ever seen with the exception of Rossie who's show never aired it was so lame.

An articulate 12 year old would be 10,000% better than Drew Carey.

Drew is completely bored & uninterested in the show. His monotone, uninterested attitude, completely emotionless attitude towards the contestants, the viewers is completely unacceptable. I have never seen a more pathetic figure on TV hosting a game show that is suppose to be exciting & interesting. Even his jokes are lame, monotone, no presentation, just stupid words uttered or mumbled fast & emotionless. Hey you won......

FIRE DREW CAREY

Did you see the guy who nailed the showcase showdown. Amazing! I don't think anyone has ever done that before. Did you see the horrible way Drew Carey called it? Have a little passion for your job buddy.

It seems like Drew Carey HATES doing this show. He comes off as being disinterested, bored and apathetic. Who the heck hired him?? He's got to be the worst host I've ever seen & ruins the show.

It's painful watching this show with carey as host. He is absolutely awful.

Well I'm a teenager, seventeen exactly, and I've watched the show for quite a while, mainly because I like the show(Not because of who is the host). I actually enjoy Drew Carey! He may not be as exciting but I think he is doing perfectly fine :) I loved Bob Barker as the host, but even so, I used to find myself changing the channel very often with him, just because it seemed like the exact same episode every time I watched it. I think Drew Carey is interesting and brings something different to the show. I like him ! I wish I could watch the show more often but I'm usually at school :(

I watch season 37 of the price is right and Drew still sucks From Beginning to end

He still messes up non stop
He can't explain the rules right to a pricing game
Hes Unprofessional
He rushes like he's nervous half the time
Drew talks in that low monotone voice
He repeats him self non stop (Whats the first item up for bids please?)z
He don't know how to give out prizes right also(What can she/he can win today) he has to say that line at least five times.
Or the Delayed reaction Drew just stands there and looks uhh. And he says the first thing that comes out of his head.
The list goes on and on.

They need to replace him with John O'hurley

The more Drew tries to be funny the worse it gets!!! He is AWSOME on the Drew Carey show, but I think that's because of Wayne and Ryan. I think Drew was a terrible pick for hosting such an awsome legacy of game shows. I mean how many game shows have gone on for this long and people still can't get enough of it...terrible host and all! I think the TPIR should SERIOUSLY start looking for a replacement as soon as Carey's contract is up!!!

I have watched TPIR since I can remember. I used to fake sick as a fourth grader so I could stay home from school and watch Bob and his lovely ladies. No one can be compared to Bob. He will always be remembered as the best game show host to ever walk the earth. No one can equal his class, quickness, charm and perfectly manicured white coif. I mean this man has won 19 Emmies! And he loves animals!

Drew is a lame replacement. Not inspirational or motivational at all and he's too sarcastic.

My biggest regret is never making it to Contestants' Row to give Bob a big hug...

I think the audience is programmed to go wild not only are they happy to be on the memorable show but there is also blinking lights telling them when to applaud. Drew is so dull and boring me and my wife used to love the show now after the opening music is over we turn it to a rerun of The Dating Game. IF you like the drew carey show naturally you'll like him as the "lets try to make a joke and sound humourous even though my countenance shows different" host. Someone should make an online petition and request Chuck Woolery or Bob Eubanks (both with charm and charisma as much as bob) onto the show.

Over the years, there have been many other hosts of The Price is Right. There was an evening version of TPIR as well as fill in's for Bob. I can't remember them all, but here are a few:

3. Dennis James

There was another younger guy that did a syndicated version too.

What did all of these guys have in common?

THEY HAD SOME EXCITEMENT!

The Price is Right not only has made serious errors in choosing Drew Carey, but bad choices in announcers.

Nobody will beat Johnny Olsen or Rod Roddy.

The announcer now is WEAK TOO! I like the "hype" high-energy animated voices on a game show. This current guy (see, I can't even remember his name) FORCES his voice and is not good at all.

There would have been much better choices like:

Chris Harrison (of The Bachelor fame)

Al Roker - yes, that sounds nuts until I saw him host a bad version on Celebrity Family Feud the other night. The premise of the show was bad, but he was VERY, VERY good and exciting to listen to as well.

Tom Bergeron (of Hollywood Squares fame and America's Funniest Home Videos)

Ryan Seacrest (of American Idol)

Any of these guys and and several others I did not think of would have been light years ahead of Drew Carey!

Am I just that smart or would this have been a VERY easy choice NOT TO CHOOSE DREW CAREY and pick one of these other guys???

I've given up watching the Price is Right because of Drew. I liked him on the Drew Carey show, but he is a terrible host for Price is Right. There is no emotion. I got tired of watching a stiff person with a monotone voice. PLEASE get someone new with more enthusiasm.

Everytime I watch The Price is Right now that Drew is the host, I have to mute the tv...he is sooo annoying I can't stand it...When I heard they were looking for a new host since Bob left, I hoped it would be Howie Mandell...I love him on Deal or No Deal...I think he would have made the best host...

The first one I heard mentioned for the job was, Tom Bergeron.[Dancing with the Stars]-[Hollywood squares] Outside of the fact that he has more work than he can handle, would be perfact replacment for Bob.I was cheering for him.

Okay, let's face it: some of use like Drew and others just don't. I, for one, do like him as the host of The Price Is Right! Of course, most, if not all of us, grew up with Bob Barker hosting and he made it as a legend on that show and I fully agree that no one could ever replace him in the sense that no one is and exact duplicate of Bob. Drew Carey is his own person and thus will bring his own views to the show. Therefore, he will never be anything like Bob Barker. And let's face it, when a new and younger person takes over an area like how Drew did with Price, it's going to take time for change. Sure, Drew was awkward at first ( who wouldn't be? ) but, I think after a bit he found his niche and turned out to be a great host. Another comparison people are making here is The Price Is Right! to the Drew Carey Show. Here's just one little snip: both shows are two completely genres of entertainment. Price is a game show and The Drew Carey Show was a sitcom. Both shows called for different aspects of show business: Price requires a down to earth and quirky host while The Carey Show was all acting. Those comparisons are an unjust analogy. I think Drew is a fresh new face that was nedded. He hugs the contestants, chats, cracks a joke or two, whatever. Bob was very stoic and marble-like in the sense he didn't seem to like that people would practically tackle him if they just won a new car or something. That is just my opinion, anyway.

As I am reading the negative comments that is written by moaners and habitual complainers who unfortunately are a small part of an audiance and appearently have nothing better to do,I am reminded of what Vanderbilt, the magnate said that "the public be damned." People with a low level of cerebral function will usually accept the theatrics of phony people like Bob or others but not a straight shooter like Drew. I enjoyed watching Drew for that reason because he is his own person, and I respect that. It is a quality that people should cultivate rather than criticize. Unfortunately, the executive of CBS don't seem to have the backbone to backup Drew. I am disappointed at CBS for not having the character to stand up for Drew but instead acting like sponges soaking up the negative feedback and giving it importance.

You ask, who would be better then Drew Carey. Well I think Joey Fatione would be great.

Drew Carey is doing a great job at hosting The Price is Right! If you got a problem with him hosting, go talk to FremantleMedia. THEY are somewhat responsible for forcing Bob Barker to retire.

Many people in here have complaints about Drew Carey being the host of the Price is Right. One thing I have failed to see is suggestions of someone that people think could do better. If you are going to complain and moan then at least offer suggestions of someone that might do a better job.

I would have watched the Price is Right even after Bob left (with much sadness), but for the love of humanity, Drew Cary is sinking the show! How can anyone in their right mind keep him as the host. He doesn't even act like he wants to be there. And his monotone voice just kills me. No excitement, no fun, nothing worth watching. To sum it up...boring, boring, boring.

CBS, I'll start watching it again when someone with a little enthusiasm takes the helm.

Let me first say, I liked the Drew Carey Comedy Show, but he is not the right choice for The Price is Right. As others have said,

The "do you wanna say hi to anyone" phrase is said without any emotion. It is annoying.

Just his overall lack of enthusiasm, makes me wonder how he landed this job.

He lacks the charisma that Bob Barker and John O'Hurley have.

He just doesn't seem to get excited about anything about the show.

When I heard that CBS was talking with John O'Hurley, I thought that he would take the show and run with it. As others have mentioned, John O'Hurley has many of the same qualities that Bob Barker has, and would have grown the show's icon status. But as it stands now, it is slowly dying a slow death. Which is very sad.

So CBS, please take action to save The Price is Right. John O'Hurley is the host for the show. He made a great impression with many viewers on Dancing With The Stars.

Don't let The Price is Right go the way of the CBS Nightly News. Let's save it.

What in the name of The Price is Right is wrong with Drew Carey? He's doing a fabulous job as I can see, as long as he doesn't tell innappropriate jokes on camera, I'm fine with Drew! Bob Barker or no Bob Barker, The Price is Right is still running greatly, AND THERE WILL BE A 37TH YEAR AND A 7000TH EPISODE!

Drew Carry shows absolutely no emotion or affect. He seems bored to death, and his comments frequently seem to be mocking the show and/or contestants. With that said, Bob Barker was such an iconic part of TPIR for so long, I think it will be difficult for the show to move on past him, even with a charismatic host. And don't forget the late Rod Roddy, I miss the good old days of TPIR!

Drew Carey needs to be replaced on The Price Is Right; he shows no emotion in anything he says and he seems totally bored with the whole show. Please find someone that has a personality suited for hosting a game show!!!

Have watched this show for the last 30 years, It has lost its zest and excitement. Hosting this show is not Drews thing.

I believe that the Price Is Right is rigged now that Drew Carey is the host. I have watched TPIR all my life, and have never seen the streak of 'luck' that the contestants have recently had. First of all, Drew Carey sucks..he's jittery with his hands fiddling with his pockets all the time, and every episode is like his first. Bob is the best. But even putting that aside, it doesn't add up. I can actually watch an episode and predict who will spin the $1.00 on the wheel. Almost everyday someone does! It's just ridiculous!

I would love to see the statistics of how often people spin $1 on the wheel, play plinko, get the number exactly right in contestants row, and get both showcases, compared to when Bob was the host. I guarentee there is a significant difference! That would make a great headline story, huh?!?! The Price Is Right is all wrong!

Drew is a likable guy but, I just can't adjust to viewing TPIR without Bob Barker; never will. I hate, hate, hate what was done to the TPIR set, (AWFUL); the theme song was re-mixed and it sounds way too tinkly; the come on down cue was re-mixed and sounds strange. Couldn't CBS refresh the original TPIR set instead of constructing a completely new one? And what has happened to the quality of the contestants that are being selected now days? So many over weight people out in the audience, and so many grungy looking people selected as contestants ( ripped jeans, tatty sweatshirts, ugly shorts, sandals, ski caps, mangy hair on guys......) Boy, watching older episodes of TPIR you'll see nicely dressed people who didn't act as though they were on speed when they won something. Today it's all of this lame touchy feely crap (smacking hands with other contestants), gyrating on stage, goofy motions with fingers, hands, the emotions, etc. Just seems so crude. The contestants were much more refined in the much older episodes. Shows you where society has gone! HA! Oh, if only I had a well stocked library of vintage TPIR's on tape or DVD. Would love to see some of those nighttime versions with Dennis James. He was great host, a classy guy. Rest in preace Dennis.
