I may be a relic of a bygone era, but, Yes! I want to see people going out strapped, Yes! I want to know that if some dirtbag does something bad someone else has my back. Yes! I really do want to see some guy carrying his shotgun with him to buy oil. Moderation comes in of individual accord. The fellow carrying his piece knows better than to use it irresponsibly, for he knows that there are other armed citizens around him who would not allow it. Yes! I do remember a time when these things were possible and folks were not considered nutcases for doing them. Case in point; Kennesaw, GA, and other cities like them, who have mandatory carry laws on the books, result; crime rate, ZERO! And, Yes! today, more than ever, it is like the old west, except that now, the only ones you want to have the guns are big brother and the gang bangers and criminals. The only ones hurt by more stringent gun laws are the law abiding citizens. With violent crime on the rise, home invasions increasing, and the problems now faced by the average American, Yes! now more than ever, we need to be well armed, well trained, and ready to defend. The constitution was written to stand as it was, and not to be re-interpreted as a "living document", subject to the whims of the big brother conspirators, whose only goal is total domination. And by the way, Yes! I would still rather own a horse. I grew up on horseback, and would still rather travel the same way. Unfortunately, most municipalities now have ordinances against riding into town. Go figure. You contradict yourself when you say that you are all for some rights but not others. It is all or nothing, for, you see, when you give up even one of your rights, all others will soon fall to the same fascist beaurocrats. Watch as I am proven right.

If you want to stop a home-invasion, get a security system. They are advanced, and much more likely to deter a criminal before they even enter your home because they advertise the fact that if someone breaks in, the police are notified immediately. I still don’t know where everyone is getting this wild-west stuff. I have never once felt scared or that I needed a gun to be safe. Don’t go in bad parts of town at night and don’t be stupid when it comes to dealing with people who may want to rob you. Common sense goes a lot farther in staying safe than a weapon does.

You are so right.Get yourself a security system.I have had one for years.My system is when some one is in my house.Who has no right to be in there.I sneak out of bed pick up my 44 and go find them.When I do find them my alarm goes off with a bang that the whole neighborhood can hear.That way ai am not waiting on the cops while someone has the time to do me and my family harm.And alot of us do not live in some big rich place where the streets are lit up with cameras.Some of us live in the country where you have to protect your stuff.Some one just the other night was stealing my wifes gas.Our dogs barked I got up seen what was going on.Fired a shot over his head.And we have had no problem since.So alarm system you say.I think I have the best money can buy.So I will stick to 44 alarm service. And common sense you say.Common sense is having the common sense to protect your family for dumbasses in this day and time.That is common sense!!!!!!!!!!!

Do the research before you open your big yap, victim. Statistics prove that electronic alarms are nearly useless, especially in a home invasion scenario. Response times are overall too slow to be of any use, and most folks can't afford the ridiculous charges associated with them. Any burglar will tell you a small, yappy dog is more of a deterrent than an alarm system. Is it more "stupid" to allow yourself to be a victim, scared to go where you want, when you want, or to be prepared. Times are such that you could be a target anywhere, not just in the "bad parts of town". Common sense would dictate that one should be prepared for any eventuality, and in this day and age, that means being prepared to defend yourself and your fellow Americans from any and all threats. Now, you may not get out that much, but for someone who likes to live, that means being able to live FREE, and not having to fear attack from any source. If you think that big brother will protect you, you are sadly mistaken. Just try calling a cop when you are attacked. If they show at all, it will be too late, and chances are that you could just as easily become a victim of the armed thugs who, in some cases, call themselves law enforcement officers. If you would rather choose to be a victim, so be it, but you don't have the right to choose, or allow anyone else to choose that option for the rest of us.

Actually, I’m not a victim, nor have I ever been to any kind of major crime. I’ll tell you what I was afraid of. When I lived at home, I came very close to being shot by my father because he is a dumb redneck with a shotgun, like you seem to be. I wasn’t a threat, and he knew when I was coming home, but by god it COULD have been a robber, so shoot first and ask questions later. That is how, in your scenario, I am the victim. But no, I don’t see any need to own a gun. The safety of my family is more important than anything, but a gun will not improve that. Look at the case recently of the two year old who was shot by the four year old while the father was home. That is negligence and people like that are the reason guns WILL do more to harm a family member than an intruder. Yes I live in a nice, upscale community where I’m fairly sure I won’t have to worry about intruders, but even in middle-class neighborhoods there still isn’t the incidence of violence or invasion that would warrant the kind of outlaw society you are proposing. And for the record, I do get out, hell, I probably live a lot wilder and harder than you ever would. Metal shows, mosh pits, the works. But I don’t associate with small-minded people like you who live in perpetual fear of the unknown. If I go to a metal show, everyone there is there for the music, and you meet bikers and rockers and everyone under the sun, but everyone knows that no one means any harm. It’s all about good beer, good music, good fun. It’s the people like you, who think that I might be out to get you and so you had better bring a gun just in case, that are the problem. Your paranoia leads you to interpret more as a threat than is actually a threat, and as they say, dead men tell no tales.

I'm no Constitutional scholar, but when we speak of the 2nd Amendment, that means it part of the Bill of Rights, not actually part of the Constitution.

The Constitution was built/intended to grow and change. The Bill of Rights proves that.

The 2nd ammendment is part of the Bill of Rights & the Bill of Rights is part of the Constitution. Therefore, the 2nd ammendment IS a part of the Constitution. DUH!

If we take the Constitution to "stand as it was written" should we ignore all amendments past the first 10 then?

I don't know where you were during the Clinton administration, but taxes went UP on everybody. I remember him saying on television that if you made under, I think it was 30,000 a year, then you would not have to pay ANYTHING. Well, guess what. That was a lie. We were fresh out of college looking for a college level paying job, but there were not any to be found. And this, mind you, was across the board. I even remember news reports showing how college graduates were waiting tables, just doing anything to get their foot in the door SOMEPLACE. So I think my husband and I made just under the 30,000 benchmark, and we had to pay out April 15. I don't know about you, but we were very relieved when Bush cut our taxes. Obama will surely raise them again, and it is going to be very hard on us.

I have probaly more than the law would allow.Alot of them handed down through my family for many years.Some of them still carry some very very interesting stories behind them.I had a great great great grandfather who was then what they called the high sheriff of varnell ga.I have the gun he used to carry.It was his own personal weapon.Alot of the guns I have have a family legal history behind them.So no I would not give none of them up in peace.Thats my families history.And no one will take that in a peaceful way.

Each administration has constantly, slowly, and little by little chipped away at our rights, mainly our right to keep and bear arms. Each administration has made subtle changes to gun laws in preparation for martial law and total gun confiscation. As for buying American made goods, good luck. I used to be all about buying only American, I had to give up and just buy whatever is available. Obama has stated numerous times he supports the second amendment but also would back any common sense gun laws.

As for Smith and Wesson being your President, you really should find something other than a manufacturer to lead you. Any terrorist, murderer, or psychopath can purchase a Smith and Wesson firearm. No, everyone who buys a firearm is not one of those things but the gun manufacturers do not stop whoever from buying their weapons.

You say he is in favor of COMMON SENSE laws concerning guns. When did our bleeding heart liberals recieve common sense. He has said that Gun Control is one of his top priorities when he gets in office. All I can say is he better send someone with a bigger gun than I have if he expects to get mine.

On TV the day after 11/11 he stated in a clear voice that he was in favor of Common Sense Gun Control laws. I for one have never known a liberal with common sense. It is always their way and noone else is supposed to have a say in the matter. Else, why are 12% of the American population able to shove things like taking the 10 Commandments from all public view down our throats.

I have not said anything in favor of anyone taking guns away. Just a simple factual statement if they want your guns, they will get them, one way or the other. People want to say pry them from "my cold dead hand" it might come down to that and don't kid yourself they might just do that.
