Do you support Al Gore's Challenge to the U.S. to produce all electricity by Earth-friendly means in 30 years? (see story)

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeze!

Al is a phony, plain and simple. He is just a shill of the oil goons. Look at his carbon footprint will ya! look at his voting record. His bull***t plan will take too d**n long to implement. By the time we should see any benefit in our environment it will be much too late. Wake up sheeple! Only YOU can make a difference.

AL GORE

AL GORE IS NOTHING BUT ANOTHER JESSE JACKSON (PUBLICITY WHORE). HIS SCARE TACTICS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN THAT. ARE THESE THE THINGS AL GORE IS EDUCATED IN OR ARE THEY NOTHING MORE THAN A FIGMENT OF HIS IMAGINATION. I THINK THEY ARE THE LATTER. JUST LOOK AT HIS HOME STATE AND THE SPLIT SPEED LIMITS AROUND THE LARGER CITIES IN TN. IE: IF A TRUCK IS RUNNING AT A LOWER SPEED AND IN A LOWER GEAR IT IS TURNING MORE RPM IN THE SAME AREA AS IT WOULD BE IN HIGH GEAR AND AT A HIGHER SPEED. WHAT THIS MEANS THAT OVER THE COURSE OF 100 MILES AN ENGINE WILL TURN MORE RPM THUS BURNING MORE FUEL AND POLLUTING MORE AIR. SO WHERE IS THE SENSE OF THIS OTHER THAN TO BE ABLE TO TICKET MORE VEHICLES THUS EARNING MORE MONEY FOR AREAS LIKE KNOXVILLE, MEMPHIS, CHATTANOOGA.

If Al Gore is just promoting

If Al Gore is just promoting scare tactics, as you claim, then why is global warming be treated as fact by reputable science journals and as fiction by the idiots at Fox New? I trust science and the leading climatologists in the field agree with the message that Al Gore is spreading. We can’t look at all of history and compare it to today because so much has changed over the last two hundred years. Air pollution effectively began with the large-scale factories and workhouses of the Dickens era and has continued virtually unchecked into the modern day. As the third world modernizes the effect all humans have on the world is growing at an alarming rate. We can’t keep polluting the way we always have. To say otherwise is ridiculous. Also, just to say, trucks are regulated to lower speeds for safety in congested areas. They are big, heavy, and they have lots of blind spots. You don’t want them going as fast as possible in a crowded area. Besides that, if a truck is going slower and someone cuts him off, he will be less likely to have to slam on his breaks, slow down, then reaccelerate to his previous speed. If he did so, he would be using more gas because of the higher RPMs to get from the lower gear back to cruising speed. Dash and break driving on the interstate is no different from city driving, it’s all about conditions, but slower speeds and regular velocities actually do use less fuel, even if the lower gear causes the engine to turn out slightly more revolutions. It’s not what you drive, it’s how you drive.

Yeah, but-

I definitely agree with the goals, but watch Al, he's a slippery one and I don't really think that his agenda is honest. The global warming thing is just a ruse of the oil/power/money elite to keep prices up, and I think that Al is just the shill.

solar power

I also would like to see ANYONE who is generating their complete energy needs (and not living like a caveman)with solar power and SELLING the excess.
SHOW ME!

Greener Solutions

I think we should use hydrogen technology such as water movement and solar panels since we have lots of sunshine in our area also geo thermal to heat and cool our houses.

What free market power

What free market power production? Isn't TVA a government owned utility? Aren't they still BILLIONS of dollars in the RED after 50 years in business?

How can we do any worse?

Give the citizens a bond issue for a change. Put solar panels on every rooftop in the country. Let us pay for them over time with our energy bill savings.
Combine that with aggressive wind, geothermal, hydro etc. and we CAN meet all our energy needs.

Bull is what those who say we can't are full of. They are also the very same people who said we would never get an auto plant in Chattanooga. They are also the ones who put all their energy into shooting down everyone else's ideas, but rarely, (if ever) have an idea of their own.

The people who have solar panels on their roofs right now, and who get checks back from the power company, for the excess power generated beyond what they use, know that the naysayers are full of it.

300 million little power plants, on every rooftop in the country, WOULD meet our energy demands, and at the same time, help us to achieve energy independence, de-fund those who mean us harm, clean the environment, negate the need for more nuclear power plants, (thus lowering our number of terrorist targets, and nuclear waste, and a technology which is negatively impacted by drought, etc.), and combined with fast track electric vehicle prodution, eliminate the need for more domestic exploration, drilling and refining.

Sounds like a no brainer.

Yes!

My sentiments exactly. Now, if we could just get the cost down. I think the first step in that direction would be to get the government, (oil cartel), out of it.

solar power

I would love to meet the people that generate excess energy from the roof of there home with solar panels,
please, please, let me know who they are!!!

You really need to take a

You really need to take a look at TVA's web-site because you have no idea how much that TVA does for the Tennessee Valley. One our main sources of Power in Tennesee is generated by the nuclear power plants and by the water ways through hydro power. Don't down a company if you know nothing about it.

maybe you could educate yourself

If you would look at the big picture instead of just believing the propoganda on their website? Of course they won't tell you how they have polluted, and re-routed the very waterways that they dam up, thus screwing up the natural order of things, to produce that power. Not to mention that the nuclear power you tout costs a lot more to produce than the value of the power we get. If they actually charged you according to the cost of producing nuclear power, (well, actually they do, through government subsidies and bail outs, your taxes at work), You would pay a h**l of a lot more than they are robbing you for now. Any way you look at it, they have no intention of letting the alternative energy cat out of the bag while they can still rip us off.
