Earlier this month I told you that my husband Eric and I are expecting twins. And John who’s the proud father of twin 8-year old girls has been helping us prepare for the double addition to our family.  Another co-worker with twin girls, director Pat Connelly, helped me find a little extra support.

 It's a multiplicity of multiples. There’s a dynamic duo of twin boys, a three-some of three-year-old triplets and five sets of twin girls.

 Stacie Smith who has twin boys says, "I hate it when people say double trouble because it's not. I mean it's double the fun."

 Veronica Scott the mother of triplets says, “They’re just so much fun. They really are.”

 Holly Rann who has identical twin girls says, "It's twice the everything."

 It's a play date for the Chattanooga Area Mothers of Multiples club.

 Betsy Bird, "The object of the club is to support and educate mothers and expectant mothers of multiple birth children."

 So the group has play dates, along with monthly meetings and plenty of resources for M.O.Ms  who have a lot in common.

 Holly, "Just the support of people who've been there and people who can understand when you've just about been at your wits end they can totally understand. It's nice."

 The members mostly have twins, but there's a set of quadruplets and some triplets too.

 Veronica, "Having triplets and most of them having twins it's like if she can do it I'm probably their sanity."

Chattanooga MOMS started in 1975 but the group has grown steadily in the last few years.  It now has around 50 members.

 Betsy, "We are seeing an increase in multiple births due to ages of mothers when they have children. The older you are the higher the likelihood is that you're going to have multiples naturally as well as things like fertility drugs and IVF treatment and stuff like that has increased in the last few years too."

 Helping Moms with a job that brings double, triple or even quadruple the joy.

 Stacie, "The boys are the best thing that's every happened to me. They're fun. They keep me busy. Very busy!"

 Chattanooga MOMS also helps the area neonatal intensive care units by donating receiving blankets.  The group’s main fund-raiser, a consignment sale, will be held Saturday August 11th at Brainerd United Methodist Church on Brainerd Road from 7 am to to 2 p.m.
