Perhaps that extreme loyalty and devotion arer part of the problem. Dogs react to what they perceive as a threat. If he perceives YOU as a threatto his master or his master's territory, he attacks. Now you have been attacked by a loyal and devoted dog. I do not blame the breed, but there appear to be far more attacks by these than others.
