Ban Pit Bulls
I absolutely support the vicious dog ban. I think it has to be tweaked but it should be put in place.
I proudly owned the most wonderful Colby Pitbull (old time lineage) and he was the most amazing, sweet tempered, totally obedient dog I have ever owned ... that was over 20 years ago. Now a days backyard breeding had created unstable mutts .. many of the large squared headed dogs have Cane de Corso blood or other Mastive breeds in them (many of which ... Tosa's, Corso's should be absolutely banned).. I saw such a dog resently at PJ's petshop being sold as a cattle dog. some unsuspecting blok is thinking he is buying Lassie not a dog that can actually pull down and pin a bull...
Little history lesson ... did you know that Presa and Tosa are descendents of the old Italian Mastive that used to kill people in the arenas in Roma ... Also in battle these dogs used to actually eat human corpses- food was scarce and there was always lots of enemy bodies. Those dogs were actually bred to kill humans. Lovely puppies.. Now what do you think happens to Pit Bulls (who were typically people friendly and reliable) when other war dog breeds are introduced?
I'm sure many of you love your pets as did I (mine died of old age) however children and humans are more important that animals period. If you don't think so you have a twisted sense of priority.
The average aggressive dog owner is young, male and often aggressive themselves. They do not possess the experience to own such an animal nor train it properly.
Most Pit Bulls with the exception of Old well monitored stock have not been bred properly for years they should be neutered and a huge fine given to those who breed them. Ownership should be by special registration (just like a gun) and if you are young,or not experienced with dogs you should not be allowed to own one. If you want to own one you should have to take a course on dog training and of course you insurance agent should be aware that you own a vicious dog breed so you insurance will be adjusted accordingly.
See you don't need a dog ban just law with big teeth and backed up by the Insurance industry.
