mailboxes in front of new deliveries
I can't believe all the negativity about not having a mailbox in front of your home. My neighbor has backed over mine twice (she's an old woman). She has never acknowledged that she did it nor has she offered to pay for its replacement. My husband has to weedeat around it and he hates to use the weedeater! Yes, it's nice to decorate at various times of the year but so is a lamppost. Yes, it's convenient to get my mail daily but sometimes I just don't have the time to read it and it lays on the counter for a few days. I would just as soon get it less often and not worry about someone taking it from my mailbox. That is the convenience of a cluster box. The mailman may not like it but it's an option that shouldnot be ignored. What about the safety factor also. Children play near the street and sometimes in the street. One less vehicle stopping at the house is one less opportunity for an accident to happen. Also, if it is less costly for the Postal Service and it delays an increase in postal rates, then I'm all for it.
