Millions of americans turn to herbal supplements to improve their health. Today we have what might be a rude awakening about two popular ones.
I'm talking about Black Cohash and Red Clover. Some women look to them to reduce hot flashes during menopause. Turns out, researchers say, they don't work. They followed around 90 women over a year and found no difference in the number of hot flashes they reported by those who took the supplement and those who took fake medications instead. The herbs don't seem to help the memory either. Another study looked at 66 women and found no beneficial effect.
Health officials urge people who choose to take those supplements to see a doctor first. Stay safe and healthy.
