It can be a serious problem for older Americans. Remembering whether they've taken their regular medications. Scientists found seniors were more likely to do something twice if they thought they hadn't done it once.
There might be a scientifically proven way to jog the memory. Have the senior make an unrelated gesture as they perform the task, like a patting their head for instance. One study found seniors who did that appeared to remember doing the task. It reduced the chances of them doing something twice.
In the case of taking medicine, a pat on the head could be a lifesaving move. It's another way to stay safe and healthy.
