
Drinking And Depression

New research strengthens the link between two dangerous diseases.
It seems like drinking and depression goes hand-in-hand. Most people with major depression actually don't also have long periods of heavy drinking. But that's not the case for people whose drinking was related to their negative moods. Researchers found they were more likely to have both major depression and alcohol dependence.
A look at 5200 twins revealed the results. Those who met the criteria for major depression at some point in their lives were two and a half times as likely to also be dependent on alcohol. It can be a dangerous combination.
So keep an eye on your loved ones. And encourage them to seek help to stay safe and healthy.
