A Southern California teen is hoping to sail this boat into the record books.

Zac Sunderland is just 100 miles shy of becoming the youngest person to sail around the world solo.

The 17-year-old set sail from Marina del Rey in June of last year.

He's expected to arrive back there Thursday morning.

Sunderland says the 28-thousand mile journey has been amazing.
