"Quiet neighborhood"... LOL
I have lived in the Bonny Oaks/Hwy 58 area for 20 yrs now. And the last 10-13 yrs, that neighborhood has been anything but quiet. They had a murder on Holiday Hills Dr just a few yrs ago. (Not far from this incident) And there are drug busts regularly. Gangs moved in with section 8 housing in whats now known as Brittish Woods on Oakwood Dr. And the Washington Hills community (the "rough side") has so many rental properties and abandoned properties, its really no suprise. I have seen my surrounding neighborhood go from a prominant, safe place to live and raise kids, to SLUMS just within the past 10 yrs. I had to get a dog (GSD) to keep the thugs from ripping me off on a regular basis. (And if I take her anywhere overnite, they look for the opportunity to do it again.)
When I was a teen, I could walk those streets night or day safely. Now, as an adult, I won't leave my neighborhood on foot without my dog. And my kids are not allowed to be out of my SIGHT.
Good luck neighbors! I feel your pain. Hopefully I will be moving soon.
