Millions of Americans already have travel plans for next week to celebrate
Thanksgiving with family and friends.
But for the first time in six years, Triple-A expects fewer people to leave home for the holiday.
Still, most people find a way to pay for Thanksgiving travel, even when money is tight.
Why is the decline so modest when the economy is facing so many challenges and we think there is a couple of simple explanations, one is grandmother matters in that tug of war between purse strings and heart strings, heartstrings win out. Thanksgiving is an important family event and Americans will find ways to cut back on other expenses so they can travel or find cheaper alternatives to
meet their travel plans.
Overall, Triple-A estimates about 41 million Americans to travel over the holiday weekend.
