Major League Competitive eating returns to Chattanooga today and Saturday for a warm-up and qualifier in advance of Krystal Square Off V next month.  You can catch several events on-air and in person this weekend.

Friday morning on WDEF News 12 This Morning, Humble Bob Shoudt drops by to talk about his technique.  Bob was the runner up in last year's "Square Off," consuming 95 Krystals in eight minutes.  Look for Bob around 6:20am.

Then at 1:00pm Friday, the lighting and running the "official" Krystal Square Off grill takes place.  The grill will be lit at the Krystal Company headquarters at 1 Union Square.  Then a procession of Krystal employees will lead the first-ever running of the ceremonial grill down Chestnut to the Riverfront.

2:00pm Friday, watch as WDEF's Joe Legge, Jason Law, Webb Wright and other recognizable personalities in Chattanooga put their money where there mouth is in a 2-minute Krystal burger eating contest.

2:00pm Saturday, if you weren't pick to be in the Chattanooga qualifier, open registration begins for the 5 amateur spots.  Register at the main stage at the Southern Brewers Festival at the Riverfront.

3:00pm Saturday, the Chattanooga qualifier begins at the main stage at the Southern Brewers Festival on the Riverfront.  Professional and amateur eaters will compete to move on to the main event in September.  Root for WDEF News 12's Brian Smith, as he tries to move up from a second place finish in the "Sackful Challenge" last year to a respectible showing against Humble Bob.
