New Law A Day: Tennessee's Antique Car License Tag Act
Submitted by Joe Legge on July 17, 2008 - 9:24am. Blog | Government & Politics | StaffForgive me for missing the past two days with new law updates. The Volkswagen announcement has been overwhelming. Today's feature kind of ties in with that. Kind of... it's about cars.
One of the new laws passed in Tennessee this year will be welcomed by automobile enthusiasts. We have a large group of motorists you like to restore vehicles, and drive them from time to time.
Only problem, those pesky 21st Century license tags ruin the magic. Now, you'll be able to use a vintage style tag. Senate Bill 1486 allows Tennessee's Department of Motor Vehicles to permit owners of antique motor vehicles to register an official license plate issued by the State of Tennessee from an era when the manufacture of such vehicle occurred. A vintage license plate must be displayed on the motor vehicle like a contemporary tag would be.
