Code 3 For A Cure
Submitted by Amanda Odom on July 5, 2008 - 5:54pm. News | Community A group of firefighters from California made a stop in Chattanooga Saturday to educate our firefighters about their cancer risks.
Lorenzo Abundiz founded Code 3 for a Cure.
He has battled several types of cancer himself since 1998.
Abundiz decided to drive a fire truck across the country to unite firefighters in finding a cure for cancer.
He says firefighters have a higher risk for some types of the disease.
He says it's part of their job to save lives.
Lorenzo Abundiz says, "We need to put an end to all cancer. So, let's do it now. We don't have time. People are dying. It's not just for firefighters, it's for everybody. If we can find a cure for cancer, it will affect everybody."
This is the California group's 46th stop.
