Tivoli Campaign to Raise Money for Improvements Is Extended
Submitted by Kristen Johnson on July 1, 2008 - 6:10pm. News | CommunityA fundraiser to restore parts of the historic Tivoli theater is extended indefinitely.
More than 130 seats are in disrepair.
It's estimated to cost 140-thousand dollars to fix them.
A campaign began in May for people to purchase plaques as a way to foot the restoration bill.
The campaign was suppose to end Monday.
People can still purchase plaques for a hundred dollars.
Crews will begin to repair the seats this month before the theater re-opens in August.
Missy Crutchfield from the Dept. of Arts, Education & Culture: "We haven't really done any restoration in this facility in about 20 years, people feel like it was just yesterday but it's been 20 years and it's past due."
In addition to repairing the seats...there's also a plan to expand the bathrooms.
