This summer, just about everyone took sides.
Are police gun-happy, power-mad enforcers who target the poor and minorities?
Or are they doing exactly what any of us would do if dangerous people wandered around our workplace with guns?
This year, police made the headlines for shooting their suspects.
But 21 years ago, it went the other way.
A young Georgia state trooper was left for dead after a severe beating on I-75.
It was a huge story, back in 1988.
Mickey Little survived that beating, and eventually returned to the same beat. He would go on to make record-setting drug busts along the same interstate that almost took his life.
Mickey went on to work a full career with the Highway Patrol, retiring in 2000.
And just this year, he signed up to run for the city council in Chickamauga.
But last week, Little died at his home in Chickamauga at the age of 50.
Last year, I posted this story from 1988 on Mickey Little.
Reporter Linda Edwards followed his story all year long. She was there when it was touch and go for him.. then when he left the hospital and finally when he returned to the job.
We can't think of a better tribute than reminding you of Trooper Little's story back in 1988.
