Nightfall Preview: Shotgun Party
Is it country jazz or jazzy country?
Whatever you want to call it, the music of Shotgun Party is meant to get you dancing.
This string trio comes to us from Austin, Texas, where they still perform country music made for people who want to shake a leg at a dancehall.
Not as big as a proper western swing band.. they're more like a 20s swing band, but faster.
The women are in charge here.
Katy Ross Cox drives the show with her energetic fiddle playing.
Jenny Parrott writes the songs and sings them... one critic calls her a "two-step Bjork."
And an actual slow song.
Shotgun Party takes the Miller Plaza stage at 8:00 Friday night.
The group Spatial Effects starts the show at 7:00.
PS... No Riverfront Nights show again this weekend.
