Researchers in China's Panda Protection and Research Centre, located in southwestern China's Sichuan province, are planning the second scheme of sending captive-bred giant pandas to the wild. I guess the song "Born Free" would not apply here, would it?
The scheme includes three phases, including selecting four pandas from over 100 pandas as candidates, then putting them to a wild training centre for four-year's special training, and last selecting a suitable place to set one free into the wild.
Love is in the air at a zoo in Japan where two amorous pandas are astonishing the crowds with their public displays of affection. Japanese television showed the two lesser pandas, also known as red pandas, enjoying many romantic embraces.
The zoo keeper at Yumemigasaki Zoo in Kawasaki said the kissing panda's behavior is baffling. "It is very unusual for male and females to seek each other out when they are not in heat, so yes it is strange," he said.
The female panda, Yoyo, was born at the zoo and met her 'boyfriend' when he moved to Yumemigasaki from another zoo eight years ago.
