Animal Fix: White Baby Rhino and a White Koala Bear
A rare white koala bear, which was found ill in a remote part of Eastern Australia, has been returned to the wild after being nursed back to health at the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie. The koala, nicknamed Mick, was found by police officers in remote bushland about three weeks ago.
It was suffering from complete blindness caused by chlamydia - an affliction which can also cause infertility and urinary tract infection in koalas.
Unlike albino koalas which have pink eyes and noses, Mick has a black nose and yellow eyes, and its white fur is due to a recessive gene.
Mick is believed to be one of only a handful of white koalas in Australia.
A white rhinoceros was born on Monday at the Ramat Gan Safari park in Israel, the first rhinoceros baby to be born in the safari park for 15 years.
The baby, named Tibor, and its mother Tanda are both in good health.
The one day old baby rhino was presented on Tuesday, and seen wandering around the enclosure, never far from mother Tanda.

The Safari herd of white rhinoceros used to be much bigger, but mating troubles between the rhinoceroses have reduced their number and today the herd consists of just ten adults.
Curator of the Safari, Ameria Turkel, is delighted with the resulting offspring, especially as the white rhinoceros is endangered.
