Animal Fix: Miniature Cows & Frolicking Orcas

Farmers are constantly looking for ways to get the most production out of smaller parcels of land. A cattle rancher in Fresno, California is downsizing, and found a unique way to keep his business. *snort* Downsizing. Get it? LOL!

Sometimes when you think small you come up with grand results. Six years ago Bob Potter sold off his cattle herd. So Potter went out and bought three of the smallest and cutest cows he had ever seen.

Like puppies these miniature Herefords follow Potter around, anxiously waiting for a meal. Happy cows never miss a meal. Happy cows come from California, don'cha know? I wanna know if truly happy cows wear cute straw hats and saw, "Howdee!" like Minnie Pearl...

These miniature cows come equipped with big appetites as well as sweet personalities. His cows keep winning awards so naturally people want to buy the calves from his ranch. Potter says these mini-cows are also in demand as pets for kids.

Potter started with three mini-Herefords but now he has forty of them on his 10-acre spread.

how does one play hide-n-seek in a pod?

About a dozen whales enjoy the cool waters off Vashon Island in Washington's Puget Sound.  Following the pod is a NOAA boat with a whale "pooper scooper." Info from the "poop" is used to let researchers know what the whales are eating and presumably, their health.

Now, I've seen a buffalo go, but I'm not entirely sure I wanna witness a whale go. Not even wearing a rubber body-suit and a gas mask. Which begs the question: "would whale poop stink?"
