9/8/09 Back to Work, What will the Rest of the Week Look Like?

The weekend weather was not as sunny as we hoped. Lets see what we have for the rest of the workweek.

A large “upper level” low continues to spin about in the Ohio Valley with weak disturbances rotating around it. The same storm system led to rain showers over the weekend all the way up to yesterday afternoon. Rainfall was light in most places, but yesterday’s storm produced heavy rain and reports of hail in Bradley County and windy enough to knock down a tree or two on Signal Mountain.

The Low is finally on it’s way out, but still could impact our forecast today.

Rest of Today: After a foggy start, we are now seeing more sunshine. The sun will help warm us into the low to mid 80s this afternoon, but a weak area of energy will rotate on the backside of the aforementioned storm. This will generate a few storms this afternoon. Some could be strong again, but not expecting a widespread severe weather event.

Wed-Friday: A couple of shortwaves(upper level energy) will pass through the area. Each day we have at least a slight chance of an afternoon shower or storm. Some could contain heavy rain. Many will miss out. Highs will remain in the low to mid 80s with lows in the mid 60s.

This Weekend: A large bowling ball of Low Pressure will dive into the upper Midwest this weekend, lowering temps and providing rainy conditions for our friends up North. The same storm system will send a couple of cold fronts and lows our way, especially for Sunday and Monday. Highs over the weekend will reach the low to mid 80s.

5-Day rain Totals according to the HPC has around a half inch over the area, however due to the scattered nature of the storms, some will certainly see more.

See you soon,

Brian
