BELOW-NORMAL RAINFALL IN JUNE

Due to the scattered nature of thunderstorms, some places received heavy rainfall while others did not receive as much.

Chattanooga received 0.73 inches of rain in June, which was 3.26 inches below normal. It ranked as the 3rd driest June on record at Chattanooga. Measurable rain fell on only four days, and only two of those days had more than one-quarter of an inch. The heaviest rain fell on the 11th when 0.40 inches was recorded, which accounted for over one-half of the total rainfall for the entire month. The driest June of the 131 years of observations taken at Chattanooga was back in 1931, when 0.29 inch of rain was recorded.

  ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES IN JUNE

Daily temperatures in June varied from a few cool outbreaks to very warm summer-like weather. But by the end of the month, the monthly-averaged temperatures ended up above normal for June. In fact, Chattanooga ranked in the top ten of its warmest Junes on record. However, no daily record temperatures were broken. The monthly-averaged temperature at Chattanooga was 79.7 degrees, which was 4.3 degrees above normal. It tied with 1953 as the 5th warmest June on record at Chattanooga. The warmest June at Chattanooga was back in 1952, when the monthly-averaged temperature was 82.2 degrees.

See you soon,
