CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Ten exceptional Hamilton County high school juniors are now PEF Passport Scholars.
This afternoon, the girls gave visual presentations, showing what they learned this summer while attending academic enrichment programs at colleges around the country.
PEF Passport Scholars is a program offering underprivileged teenage girls the chance to explore life outside of Chattanooga.
“100 percent of them are on free and reduced lunch, and the matriculation of our girls and the preparation that they get to go to college, 95 percent of our girls go to college and they graduate at a higher rate than some of their counter parts in their schools,” said Stacy Lightfoot
