EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – The city of East Ridge now has a brand new Bass Pro Shops Outpost.
“We are thrilled to death that this development has taken place, and it’s been a long road,” East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert said.
“It’s just a, a really remarkable thing to see it from start to finish, and to have persevered through the sometimes frustrating, difficult moments to be here now to see the end results is just amazing.”
After much anticipation, hundreds of community members filled the parking lot Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the grand opening.
And they weren’t the only ones… Local, and state officials, as well as celebrities from the world of sports, entertainment and the great outdoors also came to celebrate.
“The city of East Ridge has suffered some setbacks, some struggles, in particular in terms of economic development, but it is a new day in the city of East Ridge,” Lambert said.
For the first time ever, the public had a chance to explore the inside of the new store, which features more than 50-thousand outdoor related products, wildlife habitats and a freshwater aquarium.
“The other day we got a sneak-peak of the store, after they had everything stocked, and I made a point of stopping in the men’s apparel and I just, I just sat there and looked at everything and said, you know what? We now have a place where we can go and buy a new wardrobe here in East Ridge, which we haven’t had,” said Lambert.
“Hahaha… shoes shirts, you name it. You name it, It’s here.”
